Dholera SIR is transforming economic activities in India and is acting like a catalyst to India’s economic development.

Dholera is being developed on 9,225 hectares of land with a developable area of 567.39 square kilometers. The city shall be divided into six town planning schemes (town planning scheme 1 and 2 have been sanctioned) and development of these shall happen in a phase wise manner. Development activity is divided in three phases with each phase taking about a decade to complete. The whole project should be completed by 2040.

Currently trunk infrastructure development work has begun on an activation area of 22.5 square kilometers. Rs. 3,000 crore has been sanctioned by the central government for development of trunk infrastructure components that comprises of basic utilities such as road, desalination plant, potable water supply, sewage treatment plant, etc.

Dholera is proposed to consist of an economic mix of activities. This shall include industries like Heavy Engineering, Automobiles & Auto Ancillary, Electronics, Hi-tech and Emerging Technologies, High value addition industries and Pharmaceuticals and Biotechnology. More industries such as Metals & Metallurgical Products ,General Manufacturing (Packaging, Ceramics, Plastic Products, Technical Textiles, and Machine Tools), Agro & Food Processing and IT/ ITeS shall also soon be seen being established in Dholera.

The economic activity mix shall engage about 3,42,000 employees giving the much needed employment opportunity to people from across the country. More employment opportunities may arise in future as more and more industries are set up in the smart city of Gujarat. The city shall be well connected and shall have an efficient and robust infrastructure. A high access corridor shall also be built in Dholera SIR which shall comprise of City Center, Industrial, Logistic, Knowledge & IT, Recreation & Sports and Entertainment.

The city shall be surrounded by important investment regions and logistic support. It shall be near to the GIFT city and act as a node in Gujarat for the Delhi –Mumbai Industrial Corridor. It shall also be close to Petrochemicals and Petroleum Inv. Region.

Development of Dholera international airport has received clearance from air authority and shall connect the first smart city of Dholera globally. The city shall also be well connected via port facilities, metro linkage, 6 lane highway and railways.

Dholera shall also be equipped with cargo handling facility and shall consist of townships, knowledge cities, hospital, water, sanitation, tourism, and hospitality around the airport area.

Dholera SIR certainly shall be developed as an excellently planned city with state of art infrastructure, world class connectivity and economic activities like never before seen in India.
