AHMEDABAD: The work on the proposed Dholera international airport, close to the Dholera SIR, which has not started for over
a decade now, is expected to begin from February. The project SPV for Dholera International Airport Company Ltd (DIACL) was
formed in January 2012. The Airports Authority of India, being the lead partner, prepared the project DPR and obtained
environment clearance. The DIACL has obtained approval from the ministry of civil aviation.
“Connectivity to the airport has been taken up by the roads & building department,” a source said. “IIT-Gandhinagar has carried
out soil testing for soil improvement of the airport site.” The source said IIT Gandhinagar has submitted the report. “Accordingly, the land filling tender will be floated in January 2021 and work is expected from February,” the source said. “Tenders for terminal, ATC, electrical sub-station and other associated works will be issued between April and June, 2021.” The execution of the site development work and runways will commence from April 2021. The source said: “The execution of the terminal building and other infrastructure will be done between July 2021 and December 2023. The airport will be commissioned by
December 2023 in line with the Centre’s deadline.”
